The artist: Fiorella Leani

Fiorella Leani was born in Rome, Italy but grew up in the Emilia Romagna region. There she studied at the School of Ceramic and Fine Arts Gaetano Ballardini in Faenza, where her passion for ceramic started. She completed her education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna.
At the end of her studies she moved to the island of Sicily where she tought history of art. She settled in Catania under the eye of the still active volcano, Mount Etna. She taught at the school "Giovanni Verga" in Viagrande.
She produces the pieces of ceramic lava artwork in her workshop on the seashore near Augusta using the technique she perfected.
She is associated with the the contemporary Art-Gallery KATANE managed by the "Associazione Amici dell' Arte". There she keeps a permanent exhibition.
